New Wave Trust

Building Brighter Futures, Breaking Barriers, and Creating New Waves of Change for Black Communities.

About Us

New Wave is a grassroots, community-based organisation led by individuals with lived experiences, currently focused on providing mentorship to young black men who are at risk of being caught up in the criminal justice system. As the organisation expands, our goal is to extend support to the broader black community.

Our ongoing project is centred around disrupting the damaging “schools to prison pipeline” phenomenon by fostering open and inclusive conversations about the systemic issues that disproportionately subject young black men to discriminatory practices such as stop and search and s.60.

Additionally, drawing from our own personal experiences, we are actively addressing the challenges and obstacles that arise during reentry after incarceration, while promoting positive social modelling as a means of empowering our community.

“I am really pleased with the work that New Wave is doing. Connecting with our young people really matters as a lot of them do not always come from a stable background and having someone that can connect with through their own lived experiences really counts!”

“These sessions are alright. Some of the other mentors I’ve had haven’t been great but these guys aren’t so bad. They’ve helped me apply for some of the courses I wanted to try and they’ve helped me buy some cool things.”
